Hybridizing with Phalaenopsis Species
by Bill Livingston
Phal lueddemanniana v. purpurea
This species appears to be similar to P. lueddemanniana var. pulchra except for its transverse bars which show through the flower segments, and it does not have the intense color of var. pulchra. They have different breeding characteristics, and their progeny do not resemble one another. After seeing progeny from both crosses it is quite evident that they are two different species.
